Hypnosis vs. Hypnotherapy
We’re all very familiar with the mental state of “normal” consciousness – the natural ability to go about our day aware of our surroundings. But we also have the natural ability to enter into an altered state of inner focus. In fact, we do it all the time! If you have ever been absorbed in a book, or a movie, or found yourself daydreaming, you have entered an altered state of inner focus!
Hypnosis is a natural mental state of inner focus marked by deep physical and mental relaxation. In this state your subconscious opens and is remarkably receptive to suggestions and imagery. In a state of hypnosis you feel so relaxed that the usual distractions simply fade out of your awareness, allowing for selective and focused concentration, and heightened self-awareness.
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis! Contrary to popular belief, you are always in control! Most people are pleasantly surprised to learn that you actually do remain aware of everything you say and do while in hypnosis!
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a process that skillfully combines time-tested, client-centered therapy techniques with hypnosis. It is the best of both worlds!
When you use your natural ability to easily shift your focus inward, deeply and profoundly, you establish a means through which to communicate with your deeper mind and inner wisdom. You are now able to access and utilize information not normally available consciously, but which, nonetheless, has significant influence on your patterns of behavior. You are then able to identify the underlying cause of an issue, and the deeper beliefs that drive unwanted behaviors, while also reprogramming your deeper mind in positive ways to produce the results you want!
